PD Day for Educators

To improve communication skills with children, including active listening, using age-appropriate language, and responding to their needs and concerns.

​To learn about Indigenous history and the impact it has had on our society, in order to gain a better understanding of Indigenous peoples' experiences and to promote healing and reconciliation.

​To understand and appreciate diversity among children, including differences in culture, race, ethnicity, religion, and ability, in order to create a safe and inclusive environment for all children.

To participate in Truth and Reconciliation efforts by learning about the history and experiences of Indigenous peoples, acknowledging past wrongs, and working towards meaningful reconciliation.

To understand the power of sharing circles, including their ability to build community, facilitate communication and understanding, and promote healing and growth.

The objective of this piece is to explore the unique and valuable learning experience that land-based Indigenous education offers, and increase awareness and understanding of the importance of incorporating land based practices into educational settings.

In summary, the objective of the PD program for educators is to enhance their knowledge, skills, and abilities to improve their effectiveness in teaching and supporting students, and one common objective is to empower them with the gifts of communication and understanding, as well as confidence working with children.
